EVENT INFO
The third edition of Tata Steel Kapilash Half Marathon was held on January 10, 2026 (Saturday) at Kapilash, Dhenkanal.
This edition featured three competitive races: a challenging 21km race, a dynamic 10km race (both open to participants aged 18 and above), and an engaging 5km race for participants aged 14 to 18.
AWARDS
With a total prize pool of Rs. 9.46 Lakhs, top performers across the 21K, 10K and 5K categories (men and women) were awarded for their excellence, endurance and spirit, celebrating every stride that makes Kapilash Half Marathon a grand success.
5,500+ runners unite for a cause at Kapilash!
The Tata Steel Kapilash Half-Marathon 2026, organised in collaboration with the Dhenkanal District Administration and the Odisha Athletic Association, drew participants from across India, rallying for wildlife conservation at the stunning Kapilash Wildlife Sanctuary. It also celebrated the birth centenary of Amar Shaheed Baji Rout.
Flagged off by Shri Krushna Chandra Patra and Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, Hon'ble Ministers of the Government of Odisha, the run spotlighted fitness, environmental stewardship, and vibrant community spirit.
This wasn't merely a race, it was a powerful step toward safeguarding nature and fostering shared responsibility for our planet.
RACE ROUTE
The marathon follows a well-marked, scenic route through
Kapilash Wildlife Sanctuary. The route offers runners a smooth and energizing experience. Adding to its prestige, Tata Steel Kapilash Half Marathon race route is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS)—a global body headquartered in Monaco. ENTRY RULES AND GUIDELINES
Note: Participation for Indian National only.
- An applicant can apply for only one race.
- Duplicate application of same participant will be rejected.
- All participants must enter Holding area by 6.30 am.
- First race will start at 7:30 am
- Participants will be allotted different colour coding BIB numbers as per race category / distance.
- Only physically sound persons can participate in it on their own risk.
- Promoter and organisers are not responsible for any medical issues during the run.

There will be no refund to participants who have once registered, no transfer, no exchange of category will be done.
GENERAL INFORMATION

All participants will be intimated through SMS/Email before one week of the event regarding details of BIB and T-shirt collection and run information.
2. Please present the following document for collecting the goodie-bag at Distribution Counter:-
a. Original payment receipt for offline registration.
b. Receipt / SMS / Email of online registration.
c. In case of unavoidable circumstances, a participant can send his/her authorized representative to collect goodie-bag (BIB, Tshirt, route map, event schedule) on his/her behalf.
For group BIB collection concerned organization can send authorized representative to collect the goodie bag on behalf of the organization.Authorized representative must carry with him/her:-
- i. The website confirmation downloaded from application status on event website
Photo-identity proof (Aadhar card, PAN Card or Passport) of the representative and the confirmed participants.
iii. In case of group BIB collection, authorization letter from concerned organization and Photo-identity proof (Aadhar card, PAN Card or passport) of the representative and the confirmed participants. - Birth Certificate (Matric / Municipality / Notify Area / BDO/AFI ID) should be provided on demand by the participants on the day of Run.
4. First Aid and Drinking water will be provided by the organiser.
5. Refreshment to be collected from refreshment counter near main venue by showing the BIB .
6. All finishers will be awarded with medals at the designated medal counter at the venue.
7. After verification of final results, prize money will be transferred to the Winner’s Bank Account/ by A/c Payee Cheque.
8. Maximum 5000 participants will be registered on first come first serve basis. Registration will be closed after attaining the figure of 5000. - Dormitory accommodation will be provided to outstation runners in Dhenkanal on January 09, 2026 from 4:00PM onwards and bus transportation facility from Dhenkanal town to Kapilash and return trip will be provided at 5:30 AM on January 10, 2026

HOW TO REACH KAPILASH
- Road: Kapilash is in Dhenkanal district of Odisha, is well connected by road. Kapilash is around 18 Km from Dhenkanal town. The Dhenkanal town is around 60 km from Bhaubaneswar and 227 km from Sambalpur. One can also reach Kapilash via Bhuban/Kamakhayangar/Jajpur, which is within 60 km distance.
- Rail: The nearest railway station to Kapilash is Dhenkanal (DNKL), which comes under East Coast Railway, and is well connected through rail. The nearest railway stations from which one can board train to reach Dhenkanal are – Bhubaneswar (68 km), Bhubaneswar (213 km), Khurda Road Jn (76 km), Sambalpur (229 Km), Rourkela (255 km). There are several Passenger and Express trains available for Dhenkanal.For details, check irctc website.
- Flight: Kapilash is not directly connected by air. The nearest airport to reach Kapilash is Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar (68 km) and Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda (289 Km).
